Designing for disassembly

WE are fascinated by architecture that can come apart.

Imagine buildings as temporary assemblies of materials—structures that can adapt, expand, or even come apart and find new life as needs evolve. Designing for disassembly means thinking, from the very first sketch, about how a building can be deconstructed and its materials repurposed, ensuring they live on in new forms.

This approach is all about respecting materials and building in a way that’s mindful of tomorrow. By working with standard modules and dimensions that make sense over time, it’s possible to create structures where elements stay whole or separate easily, giving each piece a second life.

It’s not rocket science; it’s simply knowing construction methods and thinking logically about future use. Thoughtful, flexible design helps make architecture that’s ready for what’s next—and a bit more sustainable, too.
