WE Architecture is prequalified, together with GivRum, Schønherr and Lars Nicolai Bock from the Århus School of Architecture, in the competition to transform the old industrial buildings of Willemoesgade in Århus, Trøjborg.

Aarhus is currently undergoing an exciting development, where new urban areas arise and old industrial areas find new use. This development goes hand in hand with an ambitious vision that the city's culture and communities will help carry Aarhus into the future. Often this transformation process is seen to be helped along by the introduce of new temporary functions moving in before the actual development of an area, as seen for example in Carlsbergbyen in Copenhagen and Godsbanearealet in Aarhus. Our vision is that the Willemoesgade block - with a synergy between user-driven, temporary and permanent new programs - will be integrated in Aarhus's overall strategy and become an attractive part of the city with activities around the clock. The complex, multifaceted mix of residential, business and cultural activities - permanent and temporary - that can arise in the development process will provide identity, quality and development potential to the area.
