Want to hear about our new building system?
Join the conference, The Big Projects, in Roskilde the 13th of December and get an inspiring morning in company with WE Architecture among others.
In the fall, WE entered a 4-year framework contract in collaboration with Boligselskabet Sjælland, Danhaus, Mangor & Nagel, Holmsgaard Ingeniører and Plan+Landskab. The contract is based on a new building technique in Denmark that comprises at least 250 common wooden houses with a total budget of 500 mio. kr. The building system uses sustainable materials combined with an efficient construction method and provides a wide range of typologies. This allows the finished houses to be affordable and adaptable for any site.
The houses will be made in 1 and 1,5 plan and designed as row houses with displaced facades. The houses are built of elements made around a wooden structure that can be assembles into finished houses in just a few days, which means that many of the mistakes that weather and wind often give in the construction process disappear.
In the next 50 years, there will be more elderly and more will choose to live as singles. This is a tendency that is already seen in several Zealand municipalities, which means that we will see an increasing demand for rental housing. The new contract makes it easier for municipalities to say yes to more general housing because Boligselskabet Sjælland can go from idea to action in a few months, if a municipality wishes more housing.
