Blokhus
Blokhus is a private holiday home situated in the northwestern part of Denmark. Consistent winds are characteristic to the climate of the area, making it a priority to find a design solution that provided wind protection while maintaining beautiful views of the sites natural landscape.
The house is organised around an interior courtyard. This courtyard is the heart of the house creating a social space to dine, hangout and find reprieve from the strong coastal winds. The living room, that is facing the sea, is designed with transparency in mind to allow an ocean view from the courtyard, maintaining a strong visual connection to the surrounding environment from the internal spaces.
Along the façades of the living room integrated window seats create a experience reminiscent of “laying in the meadow” while overlooking at the sea. The perfect place to slow down, relax and take in this connection with the natural surrounds.
