Breaking ground on our partnership with Boligselskabet Sjælland

It takes time and money to build beautiful, functional and durable housing. But if you found it on a strong and close collaboration across disciplines and studios, one can clear many of the stones on the road that often end up overtaking budgets and extending processes.

The social housing company Boligselskabet Sjælland and a team consisting of WE architecture, Mangor & Nagel, Holmsgaard engineers and Danhaus have entered such a collaboration on a framework agreement running over a 4-year period. Right now, the housing association is planning up to 400 social houses which will be built within a unique building system based on prefabricated wooden modules from the Danhaus factory in Esbjerg. The housing units can thereby be assembled quickly and efficiently on the building site - on time and at a fixed price.

Last week we were breaking ground on the first project to come within the building system at Tofteengen, north of Roskilde, where we are now constructing 44 houses. Mayor of Roskilde, Joy Mogensen, gave the opening speech where she put the project into the perspective of the future development of Roskilde Municipality. Could this site surrounded by open fields today maybe in the future be a part of a new city ring around Roskilde?
